There is no rule book for tokenized communities. Although thought leadership is emerging, decisions around token supply, allocation and minting schedules are largely experimental.
To understand some emerging trends and the thinking behind them, we wanted to directly compare some of the largest and most successful tokenized communities to date.
Important notice: many of these communities are hosted on Roll or Rally.io; platforms which provide the infrastructure for tokenized communities to manage their tokens. These platforms will sometimes predetermine total supply — hence why many of the communities below have a total supply of 10M. Will that become the industry standard? We don’t know yet. Does that number make sense for everyone? Probably not 🤷🏻. We suggest paying more attention to the nuances around the minting schedule and — even better — reading community white papers closely. 🔎
